Breakdown of HCF: Title Wave

Last night’s HCF: Title Wave is in the books. The fight card, which ranged from having a fighter of high international renown by the name of Aleksander Emelianenko, the brother of #1-ranked heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko, also contained the mixed martial arts debut of four men. This unlikely juxtaposition of talent levels will no doubt be less prevalent as the Canadian MMA talent pool matures.
Emelianenko defeated veteran MMA juggernaut Dan Bobish by a standing guillotine in the first round. Former UFC fighter Sean Salmon TKO’d Marcos Vinicius in the second round, and Thomas Schulte, who recently competed in the Art of War 3: USA vs Brazil, was victorious as well.
Here’s the way things shook down on our site.
- 165 MMA fans did their best to predict this card’s fight outcomes. Twelve percent of those (twenty folks) came from Canada, the native country of the Hardcore Championship Fighting promotion. That’s exactly the same proportion of our overall predictors active on the site which come from Canada as of this writing.
- No one predicted the whole event correctly. It would have been a miracle for anyone to have that much insight into today’s card, honestly.
- The average correct prediction percentage on the card across all MMAPredictions users was 44.3%, which is understandably below our current all-time average of 53.8%.
MMAPredictions users will recall that we had a contest here on the site for the person who best predicted the fight outcomes on the card. Turning to the detailed results of this card, we see that we had a four-way tie among folks who predicted ten of the card’s twelve fights correctly, registering an 83.3% prediction accuracy. In case of a tie like this, the winner would be determined by the number of events predicted here on the site.
And our winner is… SRamirez, who has predicted on 17 events on MMAPredictions! SRamirez wins a copy of the World Grappling Games 4th American International Championships, courtesy of OnTheMat.com. Among other competitors, this DVD contains submission grappling footage of MMA fighters Alberto Crane, Nam Phan, Joe Camacho, and Ralek Gracie.
That wraps up the news for this Hardcore Championship Fighting event. There are just a few hours left before tonight’s UFC 77: Hostile Territory, so get your predictions in if you haven’t yet!
