MMAPredictions has learned that Rickson Gracie and Brazilian jiu-jitsu will be featured on Discovery Channel’s upcoming program, Fight Quest, a reality based television series focused on martial arts from around the world. The show will be hosted by Jimmy Smith and Doug Anderson and shares a format similar to the History Channel’s Human Weapon.
In each episode the hosts travel to a foreign country and are instructed in a new martial art. At the end of the program, they will face off against a local fighter. In addition to traveling to Brazil to study Brazilian jiu-jitsu, the two are said to examine stick fighting in the Phillipines and full contact karate in Japan.
While the program will not fully air until 2008, one full episode of the show is to be shown during the Discovery December 2007 holiday schedule during “Sneak Peak Week”.
Rumors of Rickson Gracie fighting again in mixed martial arts have been circulating since his departure from the sport in the year 2000. Eight days from today, Rickson Gracie turns forty-nine years old.
