If you are in the Southern California region and are a fan of mixed martial arts, be aware that San Diego’s Total Combat will be holding another evening of MMA action on Saturday at 7:30 pm.
Total Combat has been the proving ground for such MMA stars as:
The event will be hosted at the Starlight Bowl in Balboa Park in the Pan American Plaza near Aerospace Museum and the Automotive Museum. The address is: 2005 Pan American Plaza San Diego, Ca 92101.
For those interested, weigh-ins will be held August 1st, 2008 at Balboa Parks Starlight Theater 2pm.

Well Nick Diaz has been saying it for a while now: he does not like it when MMA fighters like Thomas Denny decorate themselves for the purpose of getting attention.
The two fighters were supposed to fight in early 2007 at the Gracie Fighting Championships, an encounter which never materialized. In the interviews leading up to the fight, Diaz stated that Denny, “seems like the type that juices up, dyes his hair, and is basically a walking billboard.”
Tomorrow night the two Californian MMA fighters will have a chance to finally work out their differences live on national television at CBS EliteXC Saturday Night Fights, which begins at 9pm Eastern and Pacific.
Did you hear? SpikeTV will be showing UFC 84 at 9 pm Eastern and Pacific tomorrow night. The event was headlined by BJ Penn and Sean Sherk, with action also from Wanderlei Silva and Tito Ortiz.
They will be there to offer autographs for fans from 2:30 p.m. PT until 3:15 p.m. PT, which is when the first fight starts at the Stockton Arena.
Fights from the event will be televised on SHOWTIME premium cable television channel for one hour and another two hours will be displayed on CBS.
California’s Jake Shields will take on Minnesota’s Nick Thompson. Shields, whose training partner Nick Diaz will also be fighting that evening, said he has been spending time with Jon Fitch to prepare for Thompson.
Thompson, who has been competing in MMA all over the world since March 2003, is now splitting his time between fighting and studying for the bar exam to become a lawyer.

The Scorpion King, starring Randy Couture, is available for pre-order on Amazon.com for $21.99, marked down from $29.98.
In it, Randy Couture actually plays the antagonist as King Sargon, and the protagonist seeks revenge against Randy for killing his father.
Currently Couture is awaiting news of how the courts will decide on his ability to be free of his fight contract with the UFC. If Couture is able to fight it is expected that he may finally be able to pursue the fight against Fedor Emelianenko, who brutally defeated Tim Sylvia on Saturday at Affliction: Banned.
I think it’s safe to say that Fedor Emelianenko received more either in direct bonuses from Affliction or from the Russian MMA promotion M-1 Global, who was co-promoting this event.
After losing to Fedor Emelianenko on Saturday at Affliction: Banned, Tim Sylvia joked that he did not believe Fedor is human. A reporter later asked Fedor what he would do if he had to fight himself. Here’s how Fedor answered.
