For some folks who may be new to MMAPredictions.com, I just wanted to take a quick moment to remind folks about our audio show, MMAPredictions Radio.
What can I hear on MMAPredictions Radio? What fighters have been on the show?
At this point, we have two basic types of show formats: fighter interviews (audio and sometimes video) and audio recaps of the post MMA event Breakdowns. Here are some of the names heard on the show.
You can subscribe to the show in iTunes, which will automatically download our new shows for you. You definitely don’t need an iPod or iPhone to listen to the show though. You can listen directly in iTunes or even just click where indicated in each MMAPredictions Radio article to start the audio file!
As with everything on this site, if you have any suggestions about how we can make things like our radio show better, please let me know!
It will deliver a new, random MMA fighter every day to your iGoogle homepage. You’ll be exposed to MMA fighters you didn’t know about, and get a new MMA surprise every day when you log in. What better way to prepare for making MMA predictions right? Keep ahead!
If you need more detail, check out the 1m55s YouTube video above but you can also check it out in higher definition at this m4v file (iTunes or Quicktime required).
We think this is going to be a lot of fun. If you have MMA friends with Gmail accounts, let them know about it too!
Hey gang, just a quick note to apologize… I have been on vacation in Northern Virginia with family and friends, so it’s been very hard to find time to update the site with news.
Don’t worry though, I will be back at the helm in the the MMAPredictions datacenter my apartment near the zoo in San Diego soon and able to serve up more fresh news.
In the meantime, don’t forget to get your picks in for our two next events!
Thanks very much to user ddddMoe for pointing out in our MMA forums that I had incorrectly entered the wrong start time for UFC 78: Validation on Saturday. Although i was able to get in and reopen it for folks, that was a blunder and I apologize. As a rule on MMAPredictions, predictions are closed one hour before the start time of the event.
For UFC 78 I set the event’s start time as being in the morning instead of in the evening, so there was a period that day that it was closed to folks. I will try harder in the future to make sure such a sloppy mistake isn’t made. Please don’t hesitate to contact me directly if you see something like that too! Using the Contact Us form will ensure it gets to me by email which I will more likely see before I see something in the forum.
Wondering how your prediction accuracy has changed over time?
Hey we all like feedback, right? We not only want to know how we did, say on a specific event like UFC 76, but we want to know how we’ve been doing over time. You know that MMAPredictions offers you that right?
If you’re logged in to MMAPredictions and go to your user profile by clicking on your username in the upper right hand corner of the page, scroll down just a tad, you will be shown a graph that displays how your overall prediction accuracy has changed over time. No, the graph isn’t as crazy or colorful as those shown above. I don’t want to induce too many seizures among MMAPredictions users!
You can toggle between three different views:
30 days
6 months
all time
Pretty cool, eh? You can also do a little competitive intelligence gathering about your fellow mixed martial arts predictors here on the site, as this information is visible to everyone. So if you want to see how the cohost of MMAPredictions Radio Luis has done, go check out his profile! (Really, it’s nothing to get to excited about)
Hey are you curious what your prediction accuracy is? In the past we’ve had users here at MMAPredictions say, “Hey it’s easy to find out how the top 5 are doing but how the heck do I see my own prediction accuracy?”
In the past, I agree it was a little less easy to find than it should have been. Before, you could’ve found it by searching for your own name in the User Directory. Maybe you had your user profile bookmarked for easier access. Or maybe after being logged in, you visited your user profile by clicking on your name where it appears in the upper right.
Those are too many steps. With such an important number for all of you out there, why would we hide it like that? Why don’t we present it somewhere that you can always see at a glance? I… don’t… know.
So fret not, my little MMA prophets! We’ve made it so that everytime you are logged in, you will now notice your personal prediction accuracy in the upper right hand corner of the page alongside your username and the logout button. This is true across the site, whether you’re on the MMA Forum or our Blog.
Just a quick update for you all on the way groups work here on the site!
Don’t know about you, but we noticed that none of the prediction accuracies for the groups changed after last weekend’s two events, ShoXC presented by EliteXC and Showtime and UFC 74: Respect. Normally we consider ourselves pretty humane folks around here, but when we found the calculation bug, we flushed it down the toilet. No mercy for calculation bugs! The numbers are now accurate.
Also, it was pointed out on our MMA Forum that there was at least one group that only had one member and was appearing one the leaderboard. That’s not much of a group! That should be taken care of now and groups will have to contain at least two folks to be listed. So the moral of the story is invite others to join your group!
Groups on MMAPredictions.com are limited to just five members. There are exceptions to this like our special friends the MMA Girls Friends and ThePhatCritics (some groups exist out there with more members but they were large before the 5 member limit was implemented, so they’ll remain the way they are). It was proposed that the MMA Girls and The Phat Critic invite their large user bases on YouTube to come over here and prove whether the MMA Girls or ThePhat Critic have fans who really know MMA. We’re happy to see this drama play out - from a distance!

Hey earlier this week on MMAPredictions Radio Luis and I discussed how one can make sure that they are always informed whenever there’s news here on the site. You know, things like:
It’s one thing to be the baddest, meanest MMA predictor while you’re here on MMAPredictions, but what about elsewhere? Make people “recognize” wherever you are online with the new MMAPredictions Widget!
Here’s mine:
Important: yours will not display my smiling gob, but your own user icon from here on the site. It’ll also automatically display your prediction accuracy and rank here on MMAPredictions!
How do you get it? Easy. If you’re logged in, just head to your user profile by clicking on your name in the upper right corner of the page. The code is in provided in your user profile. If you’re not logged in, you can grab the code for your widget (or anyone else’s) just by going to the user profile you’re looking for in the MMAPredictions User Directory.
Where can you put it? Just about anywhere! Here are some ideas:
your blog
your MySpace page
your FaceBook page
If you’re a student and your school gives you a little space online where you can create webpages, they look especially sharp on your university’s .edu pages.
Good question! Lots of people have several friends among whom they’d like to be able to easily compare their MMA picks. In fact, that’s the reason we started the site! You can create a group for you and your frat brothers, your friends from the MMA gym where you work out, or even your knitting club. There are more possibilities than Clay Guida has hair.
When you’re logged in, if you click on your username in the upper right hand corner of the page, it will take you to your profile. From there, you should see a link near your user avatar (if you’ve uploaded one) that says “New Group”. Click that and you’re on your way!
It should look like this:
Next you’ll be asked to provide a name for your new group and you have the opportunity to upload an avatar (icon) for the group too. That’s it! Done! Now your group will appear in the Group Directory along with the others here on the site.
FYI, your group’s prediction accuracy only includes the fights that were predicted by its members while they were members. So your own prediction history, or any group member’s, prior to the creation of the group won’t be reflected.
